Overview

ShopAI Assistant (“the Extension”) is a browser extension that helps users compare product prices and discover alternative offers while shopping online. We collect only the minimum data required to operate the Extension.

Information We Collect (On User Action Only)

When you click “Scan” or a similar action in the Extension, we may collect the current page URL (without query parameters where possible), page title, merchant domain, and product-related information visible on the page such as product name, brand, price, or SKU. This data is used solely to find relevant product offers.

Anonymous Identifier

When the Extension is installed, a random, anonymous identifier (client ID) is generated and stored locally in your browser. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is reset automatically if the Extension is uninstalled. It is used to operate the service, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

Affiliate Links

Some offer links displayed by the Extension may be affiliate links. If you choose to click these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are only used after explicit user interaction.

Opening Links in New Tabs

When you choose to view an offer or perform certain actions within the Extension, links may be opened in a new browser tab. Tabs are opened only as a result of your direct action, and the Extension does not automatically redirect pages or open tabs without your interaction.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect personal identifying information such as your name or email address, passwords, payment details, form inputs, checkout data, cart contents, or browsing history outside of user-initiated scans. We do not use fingerprinting or hidden tracking techniques.

How We Use Information

Collected information is used only to provide product comparisons, improve matching accuracy, and maintain service performance and security.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Information may be shared only with backend service providers required to process product comparisons and with affiliate partners when you click an affiliate link.

Data Storage and Retention

Data is transmitted securely. Product scan data may be temporarily stored for operational and debugging purposes. The anonymous identifier is stored locally in your browser.

User Control

The Extension sends data only when you initiate a scan and opens links only when you click an action. You may remove the Extension at any time, which deletes the locally stored identifier. If you do not agree with this policy, you should not use the Extension.

On-Page Widget and Page Analysis

The Extension may display an on-page widget on product pages to allow users to initiate price comparisons. When a product page loads, the Extension may analyze visible product information in order to prepare potential results. This analysis is read-only and does not modify the page’s content or interfere with normal browsing. The Extension does not automatically open links or redirect pages without explicit user interaction.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date.
